How to Maintain Strong Oral Health When Stressed

Posted .

Did you know your stress can affect your oral health? Well, it’s true! In fact, it can cause jaw pain, teeth grinding issues, gum recession, and canker sores. This is why our dentist, Dr. Douglas Hauck, strongly encourages you to do everything you can to maintain a strong oral health when you’re stressed. You can do so by doing the following things:

-Have good oral hygiene (Brush twice a day, floss once a day, rinse once a day)
-Visit your dentist every six months (Dental cleanings and exams are vital)
-Have a balanced diet (Eat less tooth-harming foods and more tooth-healthy foods)
-Get plenty of sleep
-Exercise, get a massage, or take part in physical therapy (Release stress and tension)
-Share your feelings with a loved one or counselor
-Make time to relax or meditate
-Wear a mouthguard at night if you clench your jaws and grind your teeth
